feather nails

I love my nails. Janine, my nail tech put 2 feathers on my nails - one on each thumb! They're so cool and I love them! I am not one for putting decals on my nails (like flower or jewel stickers), but I will probably be doing these again. All she used were those feathers you can buy at the fishing stores - the ones you use to make fishing flys with. Awesome!

wedding crafts part 1

Well there is only about 3 months left now until the wedding, and so it`s down to the crunch. Almost all the big stuff is planned, but it is amazing how much time and detail the little things take. I`m trying to finish the invitations this week and get them sent out, as well as work on the mason jar candles. I`m about half way done already - just need to frost another 24 jars. My sister is also helping me with this big project which I`ll post about separately. I feel kind of bad that I gave her this big project to work on - but she really wanted to help!
Anyways, I at least feel like I am getting stuff done and I am not getting too stressed.

anticipation

So it’s now 2012, and already so much is planned for this year. I think it’s safe to say that it’s going to be one of my best years yet!

So much is happening in just the first 6 months, and it will be a year of many firsts.

I will be having a Bridal Shower and Bachelorette Party in March which leads into my Wedding on April 7, 2011! This is sure to be the highlight of my year. I am so excited to marry my best friend Nick and be with him forever. I can’t wait for our life together and grow a family with him. I also will be getting a new last name!

We are probably going on a honeymoon to Cuba after the wedding which is really cool. Cuba seems like a really beautiful place. I heard they have nice beaches and extremely nice people. We’re only going to go for a week (I wanted to go for 2 weeks) as Nick will be busy with work and getting ready for school.

Nick is going back to school this year to go from an EMT to a Paramedic. He is going to try and get into PMA (it’s an EMS school) which is his first choice. He took his EMT there, and really liked it. It’s harder though, as you can’t get below 80% on any test and are only aloud 3 re-writes’ a year. You also have to write an entrance exam to get in which he will do in either April or May and they only take a certain amount of students He would start in June/July if he got into PMA. Also on the plus side, instead of it taking 2 years, they skip summer break and finish in 1 ½ years. The other option is to go to SAIT which would start in September. He will also be quitting his full time job in Coronation in order to go back to school. East Central EMS has been his first real EMS job so it’s a little sad, but the good things outweigh the sad. I will be able to see him more, as he will be home more often (which I am REALLY happy about). He will be keeping his casual position with Calgary EMS and work as much as he can while he is back in school.

After the wedding, Nick and I will be transitioning from the YSA ward to a family ward (church). I’m really excited about this, as I’m a little over the whole YSA scene. It was great, I had a lot of fun and meet many amazing people, but now I want to be around other people and young couples who share the same goals as us. We will be in the New Brighton ward and I heard it’s a very young ward. Lots of young families with lots of little children.

Also this year, our house will be done and we can move into it a little after the wedding. I am so excited to have a place of our own and I can’t wait to start decorating it the way I want too!

I’m excited for the Calgary Stampede this year as it will be their 100th anniversary. We will be for sure going. I just need to buy grandstand tickets – it’s my favourite part of the Stampede! I also would like to try and go camping this summer. I don’t want to do too much this summer as the spring is just so hectic. I think I am just going to treat this summer like a resting period.

Like I said, this year will be a year of many firsts. First vacation as a married couple, first home, first Calgary Stampede as a married couple, first Christmas as a married couple in our home, etc. You get the idea.

I’ll also probably be making some changes to my blog to reflect the big changes happening in my life this year. So stay tuned!
