cardston

A few weeks ago, on Tuesday July 24th, Nick and I went to the temple together for the first time. It wasn’t my first time going as I have been to the temple as a youth, but this was Nick’s first time ever! I do need to confess that it has been years since I have last gone to the temple. I think the last time I went to the temple was when I was 16. I just always made excuses of why I couldn’t go on temple trips. I kind of regret it now.
Well I finally decided that before the summer was over, we had to attend the temple at least once to do a baptism session before we prepare to be sealed later this fall.
Nick wasn’t too thrilled about driving all the way to Cardston (2 hours each way) when he has a lot of studying to do, but once the Calgary Temple is built, we will have no reason to go down to Cardston anymore. The Cardston Temple is just so beautiful and has so much history to it. It’s the first temple built in Canada, and one of the first temples built in this last dispensation. It where my grandparents and parents were married and I have insisted that even though the Calgary Temple is being finished this year, I still want to be sealed in the Cardston Temple.
I took the day off work, and loved that we got to spend most of the day together. Nick did study a little bit before we left, but we were able to enjoy a relaxing morning together.
We got to Cardston just before 4:30 and I couldn’t wait to go inside. My dad gave us some names, so we first had to register them. Finally we went around back and went through the doors that were the entrance to the baptism section.
Even though all together we only spent about an hour in the temple, I was just so happy and excited. Nick wasn’t as excited as I was, but he never gets excited for anything. So I just get excited for the both of us. I can’t wait to go to the temple later this year and be sealed to the man I love so much. He means to world to me, and soon I get to say that he’s mine forever!
